Showering in a stall with a shower panel makes it difficult to ever go back to a typical showering experience. Suddenly, the stream of water coming from your overhead showerhead or handheld wand simply doesn’t cut it. I like to think of a shower tower as the shower version of a whirlpool bathtub. The various jets and settings allow you to customize the experience into one that is fully relaxing and enjoyable. Showers don’t need to only be for getting clean, after all.
Before we get into reviews of some of today’s best shower panels, there are a few things I would like to quickly address with you. First of all, shower panels are often referred to as shower panels or panel towers. It can get really confusing when one person, store, or website calls an item by a different name that some of the others. If you see those terms in other places, chances are that they are talking about the very same thing we are talking about. I simply chose to stick with the term “shower tower” because people often confuse the term “shower panel” with the glass or plastic wall panels often used to build shower surrounds.
Secondly, you may want to find out a little bit about your water pressure before going ahead and purchasing or installing a shower tower. People with mid to low water pressure will find that they may not be able to run every function of this shower at one time, because the pressure will not be strong enough to create a steady stream of water out of each and every nozzle. That being said, those people can still use these showers, they will just have to choose one or two functions at a time.
Finally, let’s look at some things you should consider which will help you narrow your choices of available shower towers.
Are you looking for a massage? – If you are someone who, like me, relies on their shower as a place to relax tense muscles you will want to find a shower paenl with massage jets. Don’t be fooled by pictures of shower towers with small, jet-like nozzles lined up and down the panel; not all shower tower “jets” are actually made for massage purposes. Some tower jets only provide a mist or a spray, but do not manage to provide a strong enough stream of water to massage muscles.
Is style important? – There are many styles of shower towers available. For the most part, though, they fit into the streamlined appeal of industrial, modular and contemporary bathrooms. They are rarely designed to fit into country cottage, farmhouse, vintage, or steampunk bathrooms. That being said, we did manage to find one which may suit those styles. Unfortunately, you may need to decide what is more important to you – style or function.
Which functions and extras are you interested in? – It is important to know what options are available to you before beginning your search – otherwise, how can you compare individual towers? Here is a basic list of some of the most popular functions and extra features in the world of shower towers: fixed showerhead adjustable in height and direction; rainfall fixed showerhead; waterfall fixed showerhead; handheld showerhead with multiple functions; adjustable height for handheld showerhead; tub spout; color-changing LED lights tied into water temperature; backlit LCD display of water temperature and functions currently in use; the ability to adjust functions separately; shower mirror; shelf; multifunctional massage jets.
